As we reach the NHL season’s midpoint, the Colorado Avalanche remain the consensus Stanley Cup favorites but the betting market reflects contenders that have closed the gap.

Colorado entered the year around +800 at all sportsbooks and for the most part, that pricing and favorite status remain the case. However, other teams have leveled the playing field. For example, at DraftKings, the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers are +750 tri-favorites with Colorado.

Other books have kept Colorado as the clear favorite but grouped several other teams behind them. At FanDuel, the Avalanche have +750 odds with seven other teams next in line at +1100. But Circa Sportsbook has four teams with shorter odds than Colorado.

The NHL is widely considered the most unpredictable postseason and all these futures reflect that narrative. For example, only eight of the 37 Presidents’ Trophy award-winners have won Lord Stanley with a current drought over a decade.

Another popular narrative is Canada’s Stanley Cup drought, which currently sits at 31 years. The 1993 Montreal Canadiens were the last Canadian team to win the title.

STANLEY CUP ODDS VIA DRAFTKINGS:

New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins (+750)

Vegas Golden Knights, Edmonton Oilers (+1000)

Dallas Stars, Carolina Hurricanes (+1100)

Florida Panthers (+1200)

Toronto Maple Leafs (+1300)
