Joel Embiid’s career-high 70-point game leapfrogged him on the MVP betting board, passing four others to become to the overall favorite at +130.

Embiid was the fifth-favorite with +800 odds. Nikola Jokic was the +170 favorite but now has +250 odds, followed by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+360) and Luka Doncic (+900).

The reigning MVP also set a Philadelphia 76ers franchise record, passing Wilt Chamberlain’s mark of 68 points. Embiid also grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds.

Embiid’s campaign may hit a snag, due to a new NBA rule that requires all awards recipients to play at least 65 games. Since he has already missed 10 games, Embiid can only miss seven of Philly’s 40 remaining games to remain eligible.
