College football’s two lone remaining unbeatens will decide the national championship. Michigan is a 4.5-point favorite over Washington in Monday’s title game with a total of 55.5.
Top-seeded Michigan exorcised some demons, notching its first playoff win in its third straight CFP appearance. The Wolverines rallied late to force overtime and then defeated Alabama to win the Rose Bowl.
The Huskies never trailed in the Sugar Bowl and held off a late Texas surge, defending an endzone pass on the game’s final play. Washington has now won all three games this season in which it was an underdog.
Michigan began the season as the fourth-favorite at BetMGM with +1000 odds, according to SportsOddsHistory.com. Washington was a 30-to-1 longshot.
Washington started the season at +4000 to win the CFP and have now moved all the way up to +725.
Entering the CFP semifinals, the betting favorite has gone on to win the national championship in five of the previous nine years.
NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas will host the game on Monday.
