Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has been the center of controversial sports discussions regarding his overall rank among the NBA’s elite but the betting market currently ranks him as a legitimate MVP candidate.

Tatum is either the second or third favorite at all sportsbooks with odds ranging from +375 to +500. This comes after beginning the season with odds in the neighborhood of +1500 or higher.

Although he earned All-NBA First Team honors in three straight seasons, Tatum has not finished higher than fourth in MVP voting. However, through the first three games, he is currently averaging career-highs in points, assists and made three-pointers.

Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is the consensus +300 favorite.
