Top Home Design Influencers To Follow

The effects of staying home for days upon weeks upon months during the pandemic manifested in different ways for different people. Some decided to tackle the lost art of bread making. Others achieved the almost impossible feat of watching every title on Netflix. And then there were the restless, those who experienced the overwhelming urge to break free. For some this meant moving to a new apartment, home or state. For others it was simply the need for change within their home. In a world where we could control nothing outside our homes, we could control the environment and energy inside our homes.

For this crowd, as quarantine continued and March 2020 seemingly never ended, working to make your home a sanctuary became an escape from the madness. Whether you were stuck inside as a work-from-home parent or living on your own with nothing to do, our homes began to feel like a cage. Something needed to change, our home needed to be not what people expected it to be but what we needed it to be. So, with no guests coming over, maybe you didn’t need a dining room in your two-bedroom apartment with two kids running around. Maybe instead of a dining room you needed a playroom with storage for the thousands of toys your children have collected over the years. What a waste of space a dining room is to begin with! Or maybe instead of a garage you needed a gym or home office to actually get some work done.

So where did you turn? You’re not a designer. You don’t have those natural creative instincts where you can walk into a space and just see what it’s yearning to be. You’re too practical, too black and white. But you’re good at research and identifying what you do and do not like. But where do you turn?

So if you are someone looking to reimagine a space or you are one of the millions who relocated to another space and are looking for design inspiration, you have come to the right place. Below is a list of the top Instagram design accounts that spoke to us the loudest during quarantine. Some are professionals, some regular people with a creative eye and some are companies with beautiful pictures. Some offer designs so bold you only wish you were brave enough to attempt, and others so sophisticated you figure they can’t possibly have kids at home. But they all will spark those creative juices and guide you on your path to creating the sanctuary you need within your home. A home that’s not always zen but will be wholly you.
