The Long Shot Wager That Every NFL Draft Fan Needs

By Donny Black

There is one bet that every NFL fan should have in their portfolio right now. Will Levis (+1000) to be the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is pure value.

The recurring theme in the month of March is the standout that improves their draft stock dramatically with a world-class NFL Combine. We see it year after year. There is always one player that blows everyone away with his physical traits in drills, kills his team interviews, and goes flying up draft boards. We saw it two years ago with Zach Wilson and last year in 2022 with Travon Walker. This year, I am predicting it will be Kentucky quarterback Will Levis. Yes, the guy that puts mayonnaise in his coffee and eats whole banana peels. As ridiculous as it sounds, Levis’ personality is what will put him over the edge to be the top quarterback in this class. Levis is the prototypical Type-A personality and gym rat that makes general managers fall in love.

If you’re paying attention to NFL Draft chatter now, especially with Mel Kiper’s endorsement of Levis, you can see the narrative in motion that he is better than his stats showed in 2022. People will be talking about how “He’s played in Pro-Style offenses” or “It wasn’t his fault…he was injured and his offensive line wasn’t any good.” Coaches nowadays put a huge emphasis on physical traits. Most offensive coordinators believe that their system can make any quarterback work, as long as they have the tools, and Levis certainly has the tools.

When it comes to draft betting, we’re not predicting who will be a bust or a future Hall of Famer. Doesn’t matter if Levis becomes the next Jamarcus Russell. Our goal is to get ahead of the market before the combine and hope that one team completely falls head-over-heels for Levis. All it takes is ONE team — just one team to think Levis is the next Josh Allen. At 10-1, I’m willing to bet that Levis can convince a franchise that he’s worthy of a trade and become the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
